Our class spelling program this year consists of 'theme' words (this term related to our text "Pannikin and Pinta"), language of mathematics words, our own individual spelling list and personal words. With 25 words in total, we are kept very busy exploring meaning, developing vocabulary and 'playing' with our words to ensure that we develop a deep
understanding of the words we need to learn and we feel confident spelling them in a variety of contexts.
So how do we learn our spelling words?
NOT by writing them in lists over and over and over again!
We love to utilise the great resources over at Spelling City, but we also have quite a few hands on choices during our Literacy sessions.
Those of us who are 'Art Smart' enjoy illustrating our words . . .
I wonder if our parents or older brothers and sisters ever had a few favourite spelling tricks up their sleeve to help them remember how to spell tricky words?
